Principles of a healed nation
How can we see a nation changed?
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2Ch 7:14
Let’s look at this peace by peace.
If my people
Identity – There is a need to know we are His. It’s not enough to just know who He is but we must know we are His. Peter after Jesus gave Him the miracle of catching abundant fish first responded with away from me. Jesus responded with come follow me and I will make you a fisher of men. God wants us to have a deep revaluation of His love and our belonging. It’s like the our Father of the Lord’s prayer.
who are called by my name
Authority – It isn’t enough to have a sense of calling. We need to know this calling is in relationship and has the characteristics of His name, the very nature of God. This relationship is integral to this identity or there is nothing to identify God as the source and destination of our lives. This is similar to the Hollowed be your name of the Lord’s prayer. In covenant relationship we take on His name similar to a marriage.
will humble themselves and
Source – Humility isn’t lack, but an understanding that you are not the source of what you have. So we will receive abundantly when we acknowledge we are not the original source and it’s a gift of grace. We can not trick God into doing something, it’s His choice. He is the one who desires to give abundantly as a expression of His love within our freedom to receive. He is the one who desires to change our hard work land to become a fertile land were the seeds planted in it are freely received and grow abundantly. This is like the “Your kingdom come your will be done” of the Lord’s prayer.
pray and seek my face
Relationship -This identity and recognition of source is just the beginning with a deeper draw to see Him. This is seeking to be where He is or that He would be here. When these two places merge we have the next part of the Lord’s prayer “on earth as in heaven”.
and turn from their wicked ways,
Alignment – As the other elements come into play with what effects our lives, and communicated relationship with our God (forsaking all others – like in a wedding vow), there is a turning and aligning to God’s way for our lives, sanctification. He will be leading us away from temptation and bringing deliverance like is expressed in the Lord’s prayer.
then I will hear from heaven,
Restored communication – When this flow of posture in our hearts becomes the way we pray and live God promises to respond. We then find ourselfs back in the original state of relationship with God, before the separation of sin, and who we really are. Of course non of this is possible without Jesus, because He is the source of the only covenant with God we can fulfill. This is effective praying and living that God responds to. This is what the disciples were desiring to happen when they prayed. They wanted to see God responding to what they prayed with the favor they could see happening in Jesus’s life. Jesus’s life is what it looks like to have God truly hear prayer from a restored relationship.
and I will forgive their sin
New start – From this state of restored relationship comes the power of forgiveness. We can see in the Lord’s prayer this highlighted and expanded upon as we forgive others. God releases the power of forgiveness beyond just our selves, to the land in which we live, as we forgive others. Not just what was done to us but all the sin we see.
and will heal their land.
Fruitfulness – This goes beyond what we could imagine. It’s spiritual and physical healing and fruitfulness. Do we have to understand it for it to be released? No. For as so many things with God He goes beyond what we could dream or imagine. A healed land produces the potential of a seed much more efficiently. In the physical it means crops that are more abundant and the healing of our bodies. In the spiritual it means lives that are more abundant and the healing of our souls. In so many ways it’s the drawing closer to the reality of heaven on earth. It’s the garden of Eden spreading again, across the world as Christ’s redemption brings expansion of those receiving adoption to being called by His name that we would have restored communication to heal the land.
Rom 8:19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.
Rom 8:20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope
Rom 8:21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
