Healthy foundations for life and fruitfulness
Surly having a good foundation for life is what everyone want’s to know. Why would we do something knowing it’s going to collapse and be good for nothing. For the kingdom brings righteousness peace and joy.
What is the foundation God gives?
“Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God”
“By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”
“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles? And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'”
Mat 7:22 – 23
“Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts.”
The Kingdom isn’t built on gifts but on our yes.
When looking at foundations there are so many things to build on. In Mat 7:22-23 we are warned that we can miss the Kingdom and yet are doing things with the spiritual gifts we have been given. God’s gifts are given with the freedom to misuse them. We can see there is a need to set the foundations on solid Rock. But what is this solid rock? It is faith in God our rock. What does this mean, to have God as our Rock? Let’s look deeper in what God was declaring through Zecoriah:
“Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts.
‘What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”‘”
Also the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will finish it. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
“For who has despised the day of small things? But these seven will be glad when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel—these are the eyes of the LORD which range to and fro throughout the earth.”
Zec 4:6- 10
Zecoriah declares God’s ability, Lordship, honor and that He is the source of grace that brings victory. It’s declared here that it’s by God’s Spirit His kingdom comes, yet we can see it expressed that the hand of Zerubbabel was in action. Jesus continually declared the kingdom was at hand and then did what His father was doing. There was a unity, full connection and obedience through trust that brought this flow of life.
When did this flow come into action?
When Christ came up from being Baptized, the Holy Spirit came upon Him and remained. Then it says He was lead by the Spirit into the wilderness. This leading is His foundation.
What’s it the foundation of and how is this the foundation?
This is the foundation of the Kingdom of God. Kingdoms are places where a king rules, but is it a kingdom if those being ruled don’t really trust the kings guidance and rule? Yes it can be forced but that’s not God’s kingdom. We can have faith in well organized systems but without the insight of what is infallible and unshakable there will always be an element of not being a part of the Kingdom.
So how can we be completely in the Kingdom then?
Through the Holy Spirit we can learn to trust His ability to bring this about. Let’s look at what Adams relationship with God was like in the garden. Adam had everything he needed, he had God and all His wisdom. All he had to do was ask and the abundance of His God was there. No shame, no lack. God looked after Him and Adam ruled and was involved in all of the gardens development and care, even naming the animals. All of this was his until he chose to not trust only God’s guidance. Before this we can see the Kingdom of God in action.
How do we get back on the right track?
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.
First we need to receive the Holy Spirit, this is God abiding with us. Next learning to trust and recognize His voice. If you haven’t asked Him before, ask now what is on His heart for today. When we say yes to His direction this is repentance. For He is the author and perfecter of our faith. As Zacariah said, “It’s not by might nor by power, but by His Spirit”.
The more we surrender our agenda and stay sensitive to Him, our trust in Him will increase and His Kingdom will increase. His rule in our lives – righteousness, peace and joy – abundantly.
God wants to give us His Kingdom
“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.”
We need to realize God wants to give us the Kingdom. He loves us. He gave His Son to us to accomplish this desire, that we would see He is trustworthy and wants to establish an eternal convent of love with us. We are so loved and He desires you to reap a life of His abundance, the Garden of Eden – Zion.
